A Shiv Sena leader’s car mowed down two school girls on Baramati-Morgaon Road in Maharashtra’s Pune district on Thursday morning.

According to reports both the girls died at the incident site. Police have identified the deceased girls as Sameeksha, 12, and Divya,13.

According to police, three girls were going to their school via Baramati-Morgaon Road around 8 am, when a car hit the girls.

Police added that two girls died in the incident while the third survived the dash with critical injuries.

According to locals, the car belongs to the Shiv Sena Baramati unit chief Pappu Mane.

According to eyewitnesses of the incident people sitting in the car escaped the accident site leaving the car.

They managed to nab the driver of the car who was later handed over to police.

Police added that the angry villagers have torched the vehicle and blocked the road to protest the deaths of the two girls.

Police have registered a case and launched a probe to find out if Baramati Shiv Sena chief was driving the vehicle or not.
