Waiting in queue for midday meal proved tragic for a six-year-old student of a primary school in Bahraich.

Shivam, a student of class 1, was standing in the queue waiting for a midday meal at Hemriya Kutti gram panchayat area primary school on Monday when he stumbled and fell into the pot of hot vegetable curry. 

As a result, he suffered serious burn injuries the police said.

In his complaint to the police, the boy's father alleged that the school staff neither rushed Shivam to the hospital nor informed his family about the incident.

He claimed that upon returning home the boy fell unconscious and was rushed to a hospital where he is undergoing treatment, the police said.

A case has been registered against the cook and teachers of the school and a probe is on police said.

Basic Shiksha Adhikari Amarkant Singh said three teachers, including a lady teacher, have been suspended after preliminary inquiry and action has been initiated against the cook.
