Supreme Court rules technical education cannot be imparted through correspondence

New Delhi:

The Supreme Court on Friday said that technical education cannot be provided through the process of corresponding courses. The SC set aside Odisha High Court order which permitted technical education by correspondence.

The apex court restricted educational institutions from offering technical education courses like engineering though distance education process.

While ruling against the technical education, the SC agreed to Punjab and Haryana High Court. About two years ago, Punjab and Haryana High Court had ruled that a degree in 'computer science' obtained through distance mode could not considered on par with one attained by attending regular classes.
