BJP slammed Trinamool Congress on Tuesday after its workers allegedly attack the convoy of Union Minister Babul Supriyo's on Monday, when he was traveling with his family and BJP workers in Durgapur (West Bengal). The BJP called the TMC attack '"Jangal Raaj' and has said that the party will hold mass agitation program on Tuesday.

BJP in a statement said " The Jangal Raaj has occurred again in State. On Monday TMC party workers attacked Union Minister Babul Supriyo, with his family and BJP workers while he was visiting the Ondal Powerplant.The TMC workers threw stones towards the Hon'ble Minister and made filthy comments towards his family. In this shameful act two BJP Asansol leaderships are seriously injured and the vehicle of has been vandalised. BJP West Bengal condemns this abominable act and decided to protest against it. There will be a mass agitation program on on Tuesday in front of Asansol commissioner at 02:00PM and this will followed by the deputation".

Union Minister Babul Supriyo's convoy was attacked by alleged activists of the Trinamool Congress on Monday evening while he was on an official visit to a thermal power station in Durgapur but escaped unhurt.

Supriyo, the Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, said that his convoy was attacked by alleged TMC activists when he was on an official visit to  Durgapur Steel Thermal Power station in his Asansol constituency during the day."As my car was entering the venue, TMC activists shouted slogans and pelted my car with stones. They tried to break my car," he said.

Supriyo alleged there was no response from the local police though a CISF senior official had informed them after seeing the "huge gathering of aggressive TMC supporters at the gate".

"The CISF commander had requested local police for help but there was no response from the police," Supriyo alleged. District police officials did not elaborate on the incident but said they are looking into the matter.       

On January 4, over 100 Trinamool Congress workers had staged a protest outside the house of Supriyo in Kolkata demanding his arrest in the Rose Valley chit fund scam.
