New Delhi:
All India Motor Transport Congress called for a truck strike starting from Friday. The Truck association suspended long-distance bookings.
The association has demanded reduction of excise duty on diesel and its price to be increased/decreased on the interval of three months.
Meanwhile, drivers are demanded the toll tax to be removed or mode of tax to be tweaked for the ease of commute. They urged e-way bill to be simplified.
The association also demanded the removal of GST from third-party premium as it has affected their business.
There are around 93 lakh trucks in India and hence business is likely to be affected if the strikes go on for a few days. But, services of vegetables, medicines and milk will not be stopped.
