Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on Saturday said 'will hang those who kill cows' after being asked if any strict law against cow slaughter will be framed in the state.  Raman Singh was replying to a reporter who asked him if any strict law against cow slaughter is going to be framed in Chhattisgarh.

This comes a day after Gujarat government declared that killing of cows will result in life imprisonment.

Chief Minister Raman Singh had enacted the law to ban cow slaughter in the very first year after assuming office in December 2003.

The smuggling of cattle attracts imprisonment up to seven years and a fine of Rs 50,000, said Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal.

He had also claimed that Chhattisgarh was the first state in the country to enforce the law in letter and spirit to ban the slaughter of cows, buffaloes and their progeny.
