New Delhi:

Vijay Mallya, the fugitive liquor baron and former boss of Kingfisher Airlines on Friday said that his returning back to India completely depends on the judge's decision and refused to comment further outside a cricket stadium.

The Indian businessman, who is facing extradition case on charges of bank fraud, was caught on camera while leaving the Oval cricket ground in England. It was the first day of last Test match between India and England in South London’s Kennington.

On being asked about when he will return to India, an anxious Mallya told ANI, "That’s for the judge to decide. I am not giving any media interview at a cricket game".

Meanwhile, a special court in Mumbai on Monday granted Mallya three-week time to file his reply on the Enforcement Directorate's application, seeking to declare him a fugitive economic offender under the new Fugitive Economic Offenders Act, 2018.

The businessman will now have to file the reply by September 24 and after that, the court will decide the future course of hearing on the ED’s plea.

The 62-year-old businessman, who is currently residing in the UK is a wanted in India for defaulting loans of state-run banks worth around 9,000 crore and reportedly fled the country on March 2, 2016, the very day when banks moved the Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT).

The Indian government is leaving no stone unturned for Mallya's extradition ahead of Lok Sabha elections in 2019.
