New Delhi:

Fire breaks out in five of the Indian Oil Corporation tankers at IOCL Depot in West Bengal’s Siliguri. There were more than 10 fire tenders at the spot to douse the fire.

Several shanties of a nearby slum area were gutted but there was no report of any casualty.

Police said the slum area was evacuated and people residing there were taken to a field.

Fire brigade personnel fought for over two hours and brought the flame under control.

Fire brigade officials said initially four fire tenders were trying to douse the blaze and later three more were pressed into service as the fire spread.

The reason for the fire or losses incurred were yet to be ascertained.
