Bhopal:

A group of contractual teachers including women protesting at BHEL Jamboorie ground in Bhopal on Saturday to press in their demands for equal pay for work and similar facilities as provided to government employees tonsured their heads.

The tonsuring of head by teachers was part of ‘Adhyapak Adhikar Yatra’, which started from Okareswar on January 5.

The protesting teachers are also demanding proper transfer policy and a permanent job status.

Shivraj Verma, Azad Adhyapak Sangh’s working president said, “We will present the chopped off hair to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s wife Sadhna Singh.”

He added, “We are yet not clear which which department we belong to. Education department says we are employees of education department and local bodies say we are employees of education department.”

According to Verma, more than 2.88 lakh temporary teachers of the state are participating in the protest.
