Hours after Chotey Lal Kharwar, a tribal BJP MP from Robertsganj constituency accused the Uttar Pradesh government of discrimination, another Dalit parliamentarian from the party has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had "scolded and thrown him out from his office".
In his letter to PM Modi and BJP president Amit Shah, Etawah MP Ashok Kumar Dohre had sought their intervention into surging cases of atrocities faced by Dalit community. The cases of cruelty against Dalits have been increasing at an alarming rate post April 2 protests against the Supreme Court order on SC/ST act.
During April 2 agitation, Dalits, particularly in Uttar Pradesh were targeted by the police and several cases were registered against them. Police pulled the community people out of their houses and beat them ferociously, according to Dohre.
"Casteist comments were also being hurled at them," Dohre added demanding action against the police officials.

Earlier in March, Chotey Lal also dashed a letter to Modi claiming that his brother Jawahar Kharwar was removed as block president of Naugarh in Chandauli by local BJP leaders with the help of SP-BSP members.
"I met the CM twice with my problems but failed to get any relief. Rather I was scolded and thrown out," the Robertsganj MP wrote in his letter.

Meanwhile, reacting to Kharwar's letter Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said, "We will look into all the issues and redress all his grievances."
According to Maurya, those misunderstandings took place due to official apathy at the district level. However, he has promised to look into the matter with seriousness.

In view of the foregoing, Ambedkar Mahasabha's decision to confer Yogi with 'Dalit Mitra' award is currently on a hold. Two senior founding members of the Dalit organisation - Harish Chandra and SR Darapuri called an annual general meeting to initiate disciplinary action against president Lalji Prasad Nirmal accusing him of going beyond his authority.
