Indian cinema has witnessed several movies which are based on political events or on the life of politicians. Some of them went unnoticed, on the other hand some faced controversies. Movies based on politics are always a treat to watch. Madhur Bhandharkar’s latest release ‘Indu Sarkar’, which faced many controversies before its release regarding its name and plot also received much hype because of its Emergency Drama. The flick is basically trying to portray the trials and tribulations of common people during India’s darkest hour after Independence. It deals with the events which unfolds the time of Emergency in Indira Gandhi led-India between 1975-77. Bollywood, on its 70-mm screen has produced number of movies based on political events, some of which went on to become one of the most applauded films of all time and some went simply unrecognized.
