Venkatesh Prabhu born 28 July 1983, commonly known by his stage name Dhanush, is an Indian film actor, producer, lyricist, and playback singer best known for his work in Tamil cinema. Dhanush made his debut in hindi movie Ranjhanaa after his "Why this Kolaveri Di" Song gave big hit in YouTube. The song became viral on internet and gained overwhelming response, fetching Dhanush nationwide fame. The movie 3 was directed by his wife, Aishwarya Rajinikanth with Shruti Haasan. For the first time he acted in A R Rahman's music Mariyaan film by Bharath Bala.
Dhanush is the son of director Kasthuri Raja and younger brother of director Selvaraghavan.
He completed his Higher Secondary and enterted into the cine feild due to his brother's compulsion.
He married Aishwarya Rajinikanth on 18th Nov 2004. He have two sons named Yathra and Linga. Also Dhanush has two elder sisiters who were doctors.
Dhanush debuted in the film Thulluvadho Ilamai under the direction of his father Kasthuri Raja. Next, Thiruda Thirudi a commercial movie also become a blockbuster.
His first failure Pudhukottaiyilirindhu Saravanan which was directed by Stanley. Then, Sullan movie also falls in the same category due to his poor physique both these action movies called flop.
Dhanush won the Best actor award for 2011 in 58th National Awards for the movie Aadukalam. He was introduced as a playback singer in Pudhukottaiyilirundhu Saravanan by its composer Yuvan Shankar Raja. He sung further numbers in Selvaraghavan's films Aayirathil Oruvan and Mayakkam Enna.
He was nominated to become the brand ambassador of PETA with the title of India's Hottest Vegetarian Celebrity of 2011. Dhanush joins hands with WWF India to support Earth Hour 2012.
