The last year was nothing short of a blockbuster year when it comes to reality shows. Indian television experimented this year and brought some new and ‘hatke’ reality shows this year. Providing wholesome entertainment to the viewers, the non-fiction shows were a breath of fresh air amidst daily soaps. Some of the reality shows launched in 2017 managed to win hearts, making the weekends more interesting. We will have a look at the top reality shows which stood out from the rest and entertained the viewers.
Kaun Banega Crorepati 9 proved to be one of the most successful seasons of all times. Amitabh Bachchan’s charm and camaraderie with the contestants made the show a must-watch affair. The engaging and informative content of KBC helped the show grab maximum eyeballs. The reality show was the number show for a very long time and no daily soap came closer to dethroning it.
Bigg Boss 11 is one of the most popular reality shows on Indian television. The current season of Bigg Boss has managed to engage the viewers since the very first episode. Bigg Boss has become synonymous with Salman Khan and he is the major reason why the show is doing so well. The ‘Dabangg’ actor is the perfect host for BB and is irreplaceable.The drama packed episodes and exciting mix of contestants like Hina Khan, Shilpa Shinde and Vikas Gupta made the show quite interesting. Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hai actress shilpa Shinde won the show after staying locked up inside the house for over 105 days.
Khatron Ke Khiladi 8 has emerged as one of the most watched reality shows in 2017. KKK 8 was a blockbuster, action-packed show which was hosted by Golmaal director Rohit Shetty. Indeed, the show couldn’t get any better host than Rohit as he effortlessly hosted KKK8. The breath-taking stunts on the show hooked the audience to their television sets. The eight season of Khatron Ke Khiladi was won by television heartthrob Shantanu Maheshwari.
Popular dance based show Dance Plus returned with its third season in July. Dance Plus 3 had some of the best dancers grooving to different dance forms. Bollywood director and choreographer Remo D'Souza was the super judge on the show telecasted on Star Plus. The show was mentored by dance gurus Dharmesh Yelande, Shakti Mohan and Punit Pathak. Host Raghav Juyal kept the audience in splits with his antics and humour. Silchar's Bir Radha Sherpa won the third season of the dance show.
Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs turned out to be the most successful singing reality show of the year. The show which premiered on February 25 enjoyed a long run on Zee Tv and became the number one show within few weeks, The show was won by Shreyan Bhattacharya and Anjali Gaikwad who defeated other contestants to lift the winners' trophy.
