Heavy rush at ATMs, long queues, exhausted public, machines drying easily

The restoration of ATM services after demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes has lead to heavy inconvenience and discomfort to the public. Long queues and ATM machines drying up easily has created chaotic scenes considering a heavy footfall. The banks have announced a slew of measures, including extension of banking hours, doing away with ATM charges and expanding credit limits, but all arrangements are seeming not enough.

In Patna, Long queues were seen outside banks since 2am on Sunday in order exchange defunct old notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denominations for valid notes.

In Mumbai, several people complained that most of the ATMs were not functioning properly in South Mumbai including, in areas of Lalbaugh, Worli, Kurla, Mahim, Parel and Dadar. Similar was the case in some localities of suburban Andheri, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli and Borivali, forcing people to return empty-handed.
