PV Sindhu wins Korea Open Final

Olympic silver medalist shuttler PV Sindhu has registered a stunning victory over world champion Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in a thrilling match to clinch the women's singles title at the Korea Open Superseries. She made history by becoming the first Indian to win the Korea Open.

PV Sindhu had won the Malaysian Grand Prix Gold earlier in 2013. This was Sindhu's first Grand Prix Gold title.

She won Macau Open Grand Prix Gold title by defeating Canada's Michelle Li on December 1, 2013. The top-seeded 18-year-old won the match 21–15, 21–12 in 37 minutes.

PV Sindhu became the first Indian woman to clinch silver medal at Rio Olympics. It looked like Sindhu might clinch gold after all when she won the first set against Spain’s Carolina Marin in the finals but the World no.1 came back to take the next two sets 21-12 and 21-15. Sindhu is the first Indian lady to win an Olympic silver medal.

Sindhu won the China Open 2016. The Chian Open has traditionally been a Chinese bastion. But Sindhu managed to win the Super Series title. She faced local favorite Sun Yu in the finals. Sindhu won the first set comfortably but the Chinese came back for a 21-17 win in the second set. She could not hold off the Indian in the third though and lost 11-21, thus letting Sindhu claim her maiden Super Series title.

She became the youngest recipient of the Padma Shri award in 2015. Not only this she also awarded with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 2016 and Arjuna Award in 2013.
