As on August 21, people all over the United States are going to experience a total solar eclipse and the day will melt into a dusky night in the country, folks need to be extra protective regarding their pets. Though dogs and cats do not normally look up into the sun and no harm is being caused during the hour, sometimes they feel afraid, uncomfortable and sleepy.
As the Moon will slide in front of the Sun and for a moment Moon's shadow will block the light of the sun, birds and cattle start preparing for bedtime thinking that it's already dusk. Hence proper arrangements for their early sleep should be taken from the very beggining so that they do not feel weird and start panicking during the process.
"On a normal day your pets don’t try to look at the sun and therefore don’t damage their eyes, so on this day they’re not going to do it either," Angela Speck, co-chair of the National Solar Eclipse Task Force was quoted while speaking in an Aug. 21 NASA media briefing.

So, rather than putting glasses on your pet during the solar eclipse, you need to take extra care of the cutest member of your family and should make them feel cosy and secure like all other days. Meanwhile, Indian Hills Animal Clinic is also planning to keep its daycare dogs inside during the eclipse.
