Mumbai continued to make steady progress on Day 3 as they inched closer towards Tamil Nadu’s first innings total of 305 in the Ranji Trophy semi-final being played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on Tuesday.

The defending champions resumed play on Day 3 with their overnight score of 171/4. At the close of play on Day 2, skipper Aditya Tare (19) and Shreyas Iyer (24) were at the crease.

At the end of 100 overs, the defending champions were 301/5, with Abhishek Nayar (52 off 124 balls) and captain Aditya Tare (76 off 164 balls) at the crease. They trail by 4 runs.

Earlier in the match, Mumbai bowled Tamil Nadu out for 305 in their first innings. Shardul Thakur (4/75) and Abhishek Nayar (4/66) were the most successful bowlers for Mumbai.
