Bikaner: 5 arrested for celebrating Pak’s win, charged with sedition

New Delhi:

The Rajasthan Police has slapped five people with sedition charges on Wednesday for allegedly celebrating Pakistan’s victory against India in the Champions Trophy 2017 final in London.

The Police said they have arrested five people from Rajasthan’s Bikaner district after residents of Subhashpura area accused a group of Muslims of shouting “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans and beating drums to celebrate Pakistan’s victory against India in the Champions Trophy final on Sunday.

So far, at least 3 dozen people in three different states have been arrested for celebrating Pakistan’s victory over sedition charges.

Earlier on Tuesday, 15 persons were arrested and slapped similar charges for shouting pro-Pakistan slogans after Pakistan cricket team won the ICC Champions Trophy final by defeating India.

As per the law introduced by the British, anyone convicted of sedition can be jailed for life.
