New Delhi:

Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah after the stumps of Day 2 of the ongoing fifth Test at the Oval said that not having an extra bowler let England make a comeback in the Test match with the English tail-enders contributing a maximum portion of the runs.

“When you have an extra bowler, it gives you some cushion while bowling. When you bowl with four bowlers, you to bowl more overs as you have to come back (to bowl) quickly,” said Bumrah after the end of Day 2.

"We bowled our hearts out yesterday as well as today because we bowled a lot of overs. Sometimes, having an extra bowler gives you more rest."

Indian skipper Virat Kohli selected only four specialist bowlers after dropping an out-of-form Hardik Pandya for debutant Hanuma Vihari. Despite restricting England for 198 for 7 after the end of the first day, India failed to finish off their tail on day 2 as Jos Buttler, along with tail took England to 332 runs. Birthday boy Buttler smashed 89 off 133 balls on in what was another spectacular innings by the Lancashire man.

However, Bumrah was clear on the fact that the Indian bowlers failed to quickly clear up England’s tail.

Buttler added 33 runs with Adil Rashid before putting a 98-run stand with Stuart Broad for the ninth wicket.

"He played well today and took his chances. When you bat with the tail, you don't have much to lose and you can play with a lot of freedom," said Bumrah.

England lead the five-match Test series 3-1.
