New Delhi:

The team India, riding high on form and confidence will look to secure their place in semis when they face off against Sri Lanka in their second match of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 on Thursday in Oval at London.

However, the weather could play its part and spoil the game as scattered showers are forecasted in London but that would not affect Sri Lanka as they would easily get one point if the match is abandoned and their hopes of playing in semi-finals will keep breathing. The Island nation has already lost his first match against South Africa by 96 runs and a defeat against India will pave the way for their exit from Champions Trophy 2017.

Sri Lanka is struggling on the field ever since their legendary trio, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene and Tillakaratne Dilshan has retired. The team has so far failed to replace them with equal talent and the inexperienced side would hardly create any trouble for the Men in Blue.

At the other hand, Team India is looking great at least in two forms of the cricket- batting, and bowling but require improvement in their fielding which was not up to the mark against Pakistan and captain Kohli himself gave just 6 out of 10 in this department.

Teams:

The good news for Sri Lanka is that Mathews is back but he is fit to play only as a batsman. The bad news is - Chamara Kapugedera has been ruled out of the tournament after sustaining a knee injury while practicing a day before the game. However,  the suspension due to slow-over rate leaves Upul Tharanga out of contention.

India is unlikely to make any changes and the pitch in Oval is not much different from Edgbaston so we are not expecting any big changes.

Sri Lanka Probable XI: Niroshan Dickwella, Kusal Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal, Angelo Mathews, Kusal Perera, Asela Gunaratne, Thisara Perera, Seekkuge Prasanna, Suranga Lakmal, Lasith Malinga, Nuwan Pradeep

India Probable XI: Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav

Head to Head: History favors team India and the blue brigade has an 83-54 lead overall and since 2008 they have won twice the matches they lost - 34 wins to 17 losses. Also, India and Sri Lanka will become the first teams to play 150 ODIs against each other.

Virat Kohli needs 164 runs to reach the landmark of 8000 ODI runs and if he gets there in today's match he will become the fastest to reach the milestone, while he will equal the record with AB de Villiers if scores it in two innings.

Weather News: The notorious rain once again is expected to arrive in Oval and the weather department has forecasted scattered drizzle on Thursday in London.

Venue: The Oval, London
