New Delhi:

The Bengaluru weather may play spoilsport at M Chinnaswamy Stadium where an IPL Qualifier 2 will be played between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday. With the onset of the pre-Monsoon season, rains and thundershowers have been witnessed in the city in the past two days. In the past 48 hours, the city has recorded 30mm of rain.

According to report published in Skymet Weather, the conditions are still favourable for more rains on Friday as well as the trough continues to extend from Coastal Odisha to Comorin region across Interior Karnataka.

The prospect of rain ruining play will concern the organisers, the fans and players alike. Persistent rains had disrupted the play in the first Qualifier between KKR and MI at the same venue on Wednesday. This wet interruption came only a few hours after a particularly sunny afternoon.

This is not the first time that Bengaluru rains have played a spoilsport in the IPL match this season, SRH and RCB did witness a washout just about a few days ago.

Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders would be eager to avenge their twin defeats in the league stage against Mumbai Indians. KKR have an abysmal 5-15 head-to-head record against the Mumbai side, who notched up twin victories over their rivals in the league stage of the tournament this year.

In fact, Mumbai Indians had pulled off their first win of the season against KKR at the Wankhede stadium last month when they beat them by four wickets with just one ball to spare.

Mumbai are coming into the match after a 20-run defeat against Rising Pune Supergiant, while KKR defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets via Duckworth-Lewis method in a rain-truncated eliminator last night.
