Know all about 'King of Sixes' Yuvraj Singh cricket feats on green turf

New Delhi:

Yuvraj Singh worked England seamer Liam Plunkett through square leg and got his first hundred since 2011. He has made an emphatic comeback in International cricket with a century.

Yuvraj celebrated his ton in characteristic style by raising his bat to the skies and making gesture to the dressing room. Dhoni at the other end is quick to come up and congratulate. This is his 14th ODI century.

It has to be noted, though, that Yuvraj last played a One Dayer in Indian colours way back in 2013, while his last T20 was against Srilanka in the 2012 World Cup. Whenever Yuvraj has accomplished great feats with the willow, MS Dhoni has been present at the non-striking end.

1.First player to hit 6 sixes in an over in t20 cricket

Yuvraj hit Stuart Broad for six sixes and compiled a breathtaking half century in just 12 balls. Playing in the 2007 World T20, Yuvraj smashed six sixes off Stuart Broad in the 19th over of the first innings.

MS Dhoni enters elite 200 six-hitting club in ODIs, becomes first Indian cricketer to achieve feat

2.Fastest 50 runs across all formats

On that fateful day of 19 September 2007, Singh stepped onto the field like a saving grace for our country. In the same match where he hit 6 sixes, Singh made 50 runs in 12 balls. So, along with being the first player to hit 6 sixes in a T20 format, he also became the first player scoring the fastest 50 runs in any international cricket match.

3.15 wickets in a single World Cup

Apart from the number of runs he had made, he also made a mark in the bowling area. Singh took 16 wickets in the entire tournament, breaking Kapil Dev’s record of 10 wickets in the World Cup.

4.First all-rounder to score 300 plus runs in the World Cup

In the 2011 World Cup, Singh scored one century and four half centuries, totaling his score to 362 runs. That feat earned him the title of the first all-rounder to score over 300 runs in the World Cup after Kapil Dev.

5.Awards conferred to the South-Paw

For his excellence in Cricket and his selfless service to Indian cricket, Yuvraj was conferred with Arjuna Award (India's second highest, Sporting Award) in 2012 by the President of India. In 2014, he was awarded with the Padma Shri Award. In February 2014, he was honored with FICCI Most Inspiring Sportsperson of the Year Award. In 2015 he was bought by Delhi Daredevils for a mammoth Rs. 16 Crores in The IPL.
