New Delhi:

Indian Pacer Mohammad Shami on Wednesday has been summoned by Kolkata's Alipore court in connection to a cheque bouncing case filed by his wife Hasin Jahan.

"Mohammad Shami summoned by Kolkata's Alipore Court on September 20 in connection with the cheque bounce issue filed by his wife Hasin Jahan," the news agency ANI reported.

Earlier in April, Jahan filed a petition against the cricketer at Alipore court asking him to pay Rs 10 lakh per month for the monthly expenses of her and their daughter. Later, Zakir Hussain, Jahan's lawyer claimed that the Rs 1 lakh cheque, which Shami gave to her had bounced and his client has no money to pay for her daily expenses.

Besides that, Jahan had also accused her husband of domestic violence, giving death threats and involvement in match-fixing and extramarital affairs.

The tussle between Shami and his wife started back in March after Hasin had filed a complaint against the Bengal cricketer with the Kolkata Police. Shami was charged with domestic violence, rape, attempt to murder and voluntarily causing hurt under Sections 498A, 376, 307, 323 of Indan Penal Code (IPC) respectively.

Jahan also reached out to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and sought her support to fight the case against Shami.

The case took another twist after Jahan included Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) into the matter and alleged that Shami had also taken money from Alishba, a Pakistani woman, on the instruction of an England-based businessman, Mohammad Bhai. She also sent significant documents related to her complaint to BCCI and requested a probe into the matter.

BCCI dropped Shami from its annual contracts list on the same day Jahan took to Facebook and posted a series of screenshots of text messages allegedly sent by Shami to various women.

However, Shami has refuted all the claims, made by Hasin and called it a conspiracy in order to destroy his career.
