Pakistan's Hockey World Cup winning goalkeeper Mansoor Ahmed was offered a free heart transplant by a hospital group in India. Few days ago, the former player made an emotional request to the Indian Government and authorities to grant him a visa for medical purporse.

The unwell Pakistani icon needs a heart transplant and had asked for a Indian support after being advised by his doctor to look out for better treatment in the other part of the border.

Now, Fortis Group of Hospitals on Friday offered the hockey legend a free heart transplant.

Fortis has not only agreed to offer him treatment in either of Mumbai and Chennai, but has also made it clear that the complete treatment would be free of cost.

Mansoor, who had an impeccable record against India is currently being treated at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre in Karachi.

Choudhry Pervez, who is Ahmed’s doctor advised him to look out for treatment in India if the government allots him a visa on medical grounds.

“Once he gets a clearance from the government, we can get an assessment done to confirm whether he is fit enough to travel,” said Dr S Narayani, zonal director, Fortis (Mumbai) said while speaking to a leading daily.

Numerous Indian hockey stars, who shared the pitch with the 49-year-old ailing Pakistani star in the past have appealed to the Indian government to come to help Ahmed in getting better medical treatment.
