India was handed its first defeat of the tournament by defending champions Australia in the ongoing Sultan Azlan Shah tournament being held in Malaysia.

India who came into the match at the back of an impressive win against New Zealand were outplayed by their Aussies counterparts. Harmanpreet opened the scoring for India but with 40 seconds left on the clock Eddie Ockenden drew the equalizer to send the teams into half-time at 1-1. 

India had opened their campaign in the tournament with a draw against Great Britain. Both India and Australia are on level points in the group but Australia assumes the pole position with a superior goal difference.

India is next slated to play Japan before taking on hosts Malaysia. Australia on the other hand drew with New Zealand 1-1 draw before thrashing hosts Malaysia 6-1.
