Sultan Azlan Shah Cup: India thump New Zealand 4-0 to win bronze

India inflicted a crushing 4-0 defeat on New Zealand on Saturday to win the bronze in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. India who was upset by hosts Malaysia in the last league encounter missed out on a final spot, thereby taking on New Zealand for the bronze medal match.

Rupinder Pal Singh twice scored from two penalty corners in the second quarter to put India in a strong position in the first half. SV Sunil found the back of the net in the second half by scoring off a brilliant attacking move.Talwinder rounded off a brilliant performance by netting the fourth game and round off a brilliant performance.

India made a strong start in the tournament with a draw against Britain and convincing victory over New Zealand. India then edged past Japan 4-3 India were then handed a crushing 1-3 defeat at the hands of Australia.
