Marking her appearance in the Mae Young tournament made her the first Indian woman to compete in a WWE ring. Even though Devi failed to beat Dakota Kai in her match in the tournament, she created history by becoming the first ever woman wrestler from India to be awarded a WWE developmental contract.

The announcement was made by WWE Champion Jinder Mahal.
