Multi-facility sports center named after Rahul Dravid, Prakash Padukone inaugurated

New Delhi:

India’s first private multi facility sports centre named in honour of legendary sports persons of India  Prakash Padukone and Rahul Dravid was inaugurated On Saturday in Bengaluru’s Yelhanka.

Spread across over 15 acres of land, the Padkuone-Dravid Centre for sports excellence features training and academies in variety of disciplines which is open from beginners to elite sportsmen.

On the inauguration event, former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid said, “In India we force our children to go for one particular game but this sports centre will provide an opportunity to young talent to play variety of games under one roof and latter decide in which game they can go ahead.”

Sporting Facilities available in the Padkuone-Dravid Centre:

# Full sized Cricket ground, 12 outdoor pitches, 8 indoor practice nets and a nursery ground.

# 16 badminton courts of international standards

# One international size football ground with flood lights

# One outdoor and one indoor swimming pool

# Five full sized hard courts and 4 quick start Tennis courts.

# Two outdoor basketball outdoor courts

# Four squash courts of international standards

# Five international Table Tennis Tables

# 35mm specialized artificial turf skill training track.

# Injury Rehabilitation Centre

# Physio and Hydrotherapies

# Fitness Centre.

While speaking to News Nation, the legendary Badminton star Prakash Padukone said,”If we have talented youth who are underprivileged, we will give them subsidy and concession.”

The centre is owned by former national badminton champion Vivek Kumar. Prakash Padukone and Rahul Dravid will be the co-chairman.

In his speech, on the inaugural function, Kumar said, “My dream was to have a world class multi-specialty sports centre, so that our player’s didn’t have to go outside the country for training”.
