Indian shuttler HS Prannoy Roy clinched his third Grand Prix Gold title after defeating fellow Indian Parupalli Kashyap in the men's' singles final of the US Open Grand Prix at Anaheim on Sunday. Prannoy overcame a spirited challenge from his more fancied opponent Kashyab beating him in three well-fought sets. Roy made a resounding comeback in the first game to win in 21-15.
In the second game, Kashyap edged past Roy 22-20 in a tight second set to square the match. In the deciding game, Prannoy completely dominated Kashyap from start to end winning the game 21-12 to seal the match and win the title.
Kashyap had secured a hard-fought 15-21 21-15 21-16 win over Korean Kwang Kee Ho in the second semifinal which lasted an hour and six minutes. Prannoy, on the other hand, registered a 21-14 21-19 win over Vietnam's Tien Minh Nguyen in the first semi-final.
