Indian grandmaster Viswanathan Anand showcased some of his vintage form to win the World Rapid Chess Championship title on Thursday.

The 'Madras Tiger' as he is fondly known defeated Russian Vladimir Fedoseev in a two-game tie-breaker to clinch the trophy.

The 48-year-old Indian had a stellar run in the tournament and remained unbeaten throughout the 15 rounds of the competition, picking up a total of 10.5 points in the process.

On Wednesday Anand had beaten Norwegian prodigy and reigning classical World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen in a Round 9 clash and ended the day in joint second place.
