Second seed Caroline Wozniacki beat Belgium's E. Mertens in the semis to storm into the women's singles finals of the Australian Open on Thursday. Wozniacki was dominant in her performance registering an impressive straight-set win over her Belgian opponent.

The Dane started off her match well by clinching the opening set 6-3 and then edged Mertens in a hard-fought tiebreaker to seal the match.

Wozniacki would play the winner of the other semifinal encounter between Simona Halep and A Kerber. This is Wozniacki's best run at the Australian Open. She had made it to the semifinals of the Australian Open in 2011.
