France wins 10th Davis Cup title as Lucas Pouille beat Steve Darcis in deciding tie

It was one of the biggest days in French tennis as France beat Belgium in title clash of the 2017 Davis Cup in front of a jam packed 27,000 crowd at the Pierre Mauroy stadium in Lille on Sunday.

Lucas Pouille defeated Steve Darcis in the fifth and final rubber to help France clinch the coveted title. Belgium had last won the Davis Cup in 2001 defeating the Australians in the finals. 

The Belgians were the losing finalists in 2002,2004 and 2010. David Goffin had forced a fifth and deciding rubber after he beat Jo Wilfred Tsonga in the first reverse singles to level the tie 2-2. 

France tied with Great Britain at the third place for the most number of Davis Cup titles by winning thier tenth crown on Monday.
