Global search engine giant Google on Thursday launched its voice-enabled Assistant in Hindi. As of now, Google Assistant Hindi is available only in Android phones 6.0+ (Marshmallow and above) and will roll out to Android 5.0 Lollipop, iPhones as well as Android Oreo (Go edition) devices anytime soon.
Over the last year, Google Assistant is introduced in various versions including a special one for Reliance Jio feature phones. Now the Hindi version of the app will help more Indians to get directions properly.
Google Assistant is an official app which allows users to turn their smartphones into a virtual assistant by clicking on the button on the smartphones' homepage or simply by saying 'OK Google' into the microphone.
Talking about the latest developments Purvi Shah, Technical Program Manager, Assistant said, "The Google Assistant is truly Indian, it's your helpful dost that speaks our language and understands the things you care about, from finding biryani recipes, to pulling up the latest cricket score or finding directions to the nearest ATM. In order to make it even more useful to Indians over time, developers and businesses can now build Actions for the Hindi Assistant through the developer platform Actions on Google. Once an action is built, you can just say "Ok Google, talk to" and access the service or content straight through your Google Assistant."
Researchers have built the Google Assistant app on two decades of experience in the search along with natural language understanding, computer vision, and understanding user context. It is expected to be better over the years and will try to learn your preferences, likes and dislikes with your permission. The entire process will be performed in a private, secure way that puts you in control.
However, the Google Assistant Hindi is only limited to a few questions, which you can ask in Hindi but will get an answer in English.

Here are some examples of questions you can ask your Google Assistant:
1. Sabse kareeb Punjabi restaurant kahaan hain?
2. Dadar tak pahunchne mein kitna samay lagega?
3. Cricket ka score kya hain?
You are even free to instruct the app:
4. Kal subah mujhe saat baje jagaao
5. Selfie kheencho
6. Daddy ko SMS bhejo "5 minutes mein pahunchenge"

Moreover, users need to set their device language to Hindi and update their Google Search app to the latest version for accessing the Hindi Google Assistant.
By the end of the year, Google Assistant will be available in more than 30 languages, reaching 95 per cent of all eligible Android phones worldwide.
