Micromax launched a budget smartphone Bharat 5 on Friday along with the benefit of 50 GB of free data. Earlier, Micromax had introduced Bharat 1, Bharat 2, Bharat 3 and Bharat 4 phones with the aim of making 4G VoLTE more accessible to Indians at low cost.
The newly launched smartphone has a 5 MP camera setup in the front and back along with LED flash.
Launched at a price of Rs 5,555, the budget smartphone is backed with 5000 mAh battery, which provides a stand-by time of 500 hours.
Mircromax has partnered with Vodafone India to offer 50 GB of free data for the customers.
Earlier, the teaser image also includes a flash icon that would be a hint towards a fast charge technology. In the Bharat 5 launch invite, the company also used the tagline "Witness the 'Power of 5'".
Micromax brought its Bharat range of affordable smartphones with the launch of the Bharat 2 in April. The smartphone debuted with 4G VoLTE support and was launched at a price of Rs 3,499. Moreover, in September, Micromax launched the Bharat 3 and Bharat 4 with Android 7.0 Nougat and localised features such as support for 22 Indian languages.
While the Bharat 3 was priced at Rs 4,499, the Bharat 4 had arrived with a price tag of Rs 4,999. Micromax was once India’s second-largest handset company, but in the recent years, the company has lost its market share to strong competition from Chinese players like Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo among others.
