Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani has finally launched its much-anticipated 4g-only smartphone with a bunch of exciting offers like VoLTE calling, support for apps and others. Though there are not much updates about this latest gadget before and after the launching event of the same, a company representative has only confirmed that the Jio Phone will be a single SIM smartphone, with support for 4G VoLTE calls. While 'Beta trials' of the feature phone will start on August 15, the phone will be largely available from September. The phone which is scheduled to be booked from August 24, will be available to buyers on first-come-first-server.
Meanwhile, Jio is happened to be the only company to offer 4G VoLTE network in the country and hence only company's SIM cards will work on the phone by leaving other SIMs like Vodafone, Aircel, BSNL etc. far behind in the tough competition market. Rival company Airtel too is even all set to introduce its VoLTE services soon.
While talking about the condition of anonymity, the company representative did not confess whether there is any further plans to release a Jio Phone variant with dual-SIM support in the future.
The device has already been unveiled at the Reliance AGM after which Qualcomm and Spreadtrum have independently announced their chips are used in the first ohone of the brand.
