Vodafone counters Airtel's family plan with its RED Together scheme

Following in Airtel's footsteps, Vodafone India has launched RED Together postpaid plan, allowing users to form a group and make a single rental payment.

The offer provides guaranteed savings up to 20 per cent on the bill along with an additional benefit of 20GB data. Users can apply for RED Together postpaid plan with RED Basic plan which starts from Rs 399.

This latest offer is akin to Airtel Family plan that was launched earlier in July this year, enabling postpaid users to create a 'Family' of up to 5 members and share benefits of the plan with them, including reduced rental, data sharing and a single converged billing.

The feature that marks a difference between both the schemes is that the Vodafone Red Together plan is not restricted to just family members. The plan allows user to add members other than family.

Vodafone Red Together plan also has a 'Data rollover' feature provides users the benefit to carry forward unused data up to maximum of 200GB, while Airtel Family plan provides the same service upto 500GB of unused data.

Airtel Family Plan

A customer can choose the plan from My Airtel app or Airtel Selfcare portal. The primary member who will the the host for myPlan can pick a rental plan depending on the usage requirements and invite members to ‘Family’ pack.

After sending out numbers to Airtel, each member is notified via SMS from Airtel to seek confirmation to be added.

Multiple users can share data with one parent account alongwith a certain data cap allotted to each member. One can even add prepaid users to the Family postpaid from My Airtel App. Users will also get a single bill under the Airtel Family scheme.

Vodafone Red Together plan

Under this offer, Vodafone users can club together their respective plans to get savings up to 20 per cent of a total rental of the group.

The weightage of discount depends on the number of members. The scheme 10 per cent discount on adding two customers, 15 per cent discount on adding three customers, and for adding four or more customers, the telecom operator is providing 20 per cent discount.

Further, Vodafone is offering guaranteed extra data benefit up to 20GB, which again depends upon the number of members you add to your Vodafone account.

Vodafone RED postpaid plans also come loaded with benefits like free national roaming, 12 months free subscription to Netflix, Vodafone Play and Magzter, and device protection with RED Shield.

However, these plans are presently not available in Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
