Atal Bihari Vajpayee: Daughter Namita Bhattacharya performs last rites

Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was cremated with full state honours. Final rites were performed at Smriti Sthal on the banks of the Yamuna in Delhi. Vajpayee’s daughter Namita Bhattacharya performed the last rituals. The politician was also given a gun salute. His body was shifted from his residence to the BJP headquarters this morning. Scores of people along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah walked beside the coffin as it was brought to Smriti Sthal.
