Vintage Dakota aircraft rechristened as Parashuram, joins IAF again

Vintage Dakota aircraft was rechristened as Parashuram and formally inducted into the Indian Air Force (IAF) on Friday at Hindan. The credit for restoring the aircraft goes to Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who in 2011 questioned why it was kept in scrap despite its glorious heritage. The aircraft played a significant role in the Bangladesh Liberation war in 1971. Dakota was restored in England for six long months MK Chandrasekhar, veteran Dakota pilot while talking to News Nation said that if this aircraft wasn’t there, India wouldn’t have managed to held Kashmir.
