Mudda Aaj Ka: SP-BSP combo passes litmus test in UP by-polls; is this a wake up call for BJP?

The alliance of Samajwadi Party- Bhahujan Samaj Party passed its first litmus test in the Uttar Pradesh by-polls ahead of the 2019 general elections. SP candidates registered staggering win in Gorakhpur and Phulpur assembly seats giving a jolt to BJP. SP and BSP who are traditional rivals in Uttar Pradesh joined hands to consolidate their vote bank and it seems to work well at the ground level. Were the by-polls results an indication of the mood of the people of Uttar Pradesh?
