Mark this day! Queen Elizabeth and husband Prince Philip celebrate their platinum wedding anniversary on Monday. The prince, 96, and the queen, 91, are the first British monarchs to reach 70 years together. 

They will be celebrating this day with a private party at Windsor Castle, the monarch’s home to the west of London.

Also, to commemorate the occasion, they've released a new series of portraits captured by British photographer Matt Holyoak at Windsor Castle earlier this month.

It was in 1934 that the future couple were first introduced at the wedding of Philip's cousin Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark to Prince George, Duke of Kent (Elizabeth's uncle).
