Militants storm into school in Southern Philippines taking several students into hostage

Militants on Wednesday stormed into a school in the southern Philippines and are holding several students hostage. The incident happened on the same island where fight between government troops and Islamists are going on. The fight has been going on in last five weeks.

About 300 armed men, among them members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF), stormed a school in Pigcawayan town in North Cotabato province on Mindanao island and were holding some students captive, said in a police report to The Sydney Morning Herald.

As per the reports from Al Jazeera, suspected members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) group were engaged in a gun battle with security forces at Malagakit, close to Pigcawayan town, Chief Inspector Realan Mamon said in a radio interview on Wednesday.
