Pakistan Air Force jet crashes during routine mission

New Delhi:

A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) jet on routine training on Tuesday crashed while landing at the Peshawar airbase possibly due to technical problems.

The FT-7PG training aircraft was on a routine operational training mission when it crashed, but no casualty has been reported, the PAF said in a statement.

”No loss of life has been reported,” the PAF said.

Although technical fault was suspected, the cause of the crash is not known yet, and the air force announced a probe to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.

Witnesses saw smoke billowing from the vicinity of the Bacha Khan International Airport after the incident but the rescue staff managed to douse the flames and clear the runway, airport sources said.

Earlier this month, a paramilitary soldier was killed when an army helicopter crash-landed in suburbs of Quetta, capital of Balochistan province. And, a training plane of armed forced crashed last month in Lahore and the two pilots were injured.

The airport authority has declared an emergency.
