Pew Survey: Military force in Jammu and Kashmir finds massive support

According to a survey conducted by American fact-tank Pew Research Center in India this year, 64 per cent respondents of had a "very unfavourable" view of Pakistan, which is a rise of 9 per cent than what was recorded last year.

Terror outfit ISIS has been viewed as a "major threat" by 66 per cent respondents while terrorism is seen as "very big problem" by 76 per cent respondents.  

These figures were given out during a media interaction at the American Center in New Delhi on Friday by Bruce Stokes, Global Director of the Economic Attitudes of the Pew Research Center.

Over Jammu and Kashmir issue, 63 per cent of the respondents believed that the government should use more military force in the state and 62 per cent described the situation prevailing in the state as a "very big problem".

17 per cent of the respondents had "a lot of confidence" in US President Donald Trump, while only 4 per cent had "a lot of confidence" in Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The survey, which was carried out between February 21 and March 10, sought the views of 2,464 people across the country, both in the urban and rural areas.

According to the survey, more than eight in 10 Indians said economic conditions were "good" in the country, despite the government’s decision to scrap high-value currency notes in November last year.
