New Delhi:

Several people were injured in a shooting at a high school in the southern French town of Grasse on Thursday, sources close to the investigation said. An intruder burst into the Tocqueville high school and opened fire, one of the sources said.

According to media reports, at least two people have been injured in the shooting. However, the authorities have confirmed the incident is not terrorism-related.

The shooting is connected to an incident between two students, and is not terrorist-related, Grasse Town Hall said.

Media reports said that one person has been arrested following the shooting, and there is a special police unit at the scene.

The detained person is a high school student aged 17. The student was allegedly carrying a rifle, two handguns and two grenades.

The shooting came just hours after a letter bomb explosion left one IMF employee in Paris.

France has been on high alert following a spate of high-profile terrorist attacks in its major cities in the past two years.
