New Delhi:

South Korea on Saturday said it had moved military jets in a hurry to intercept a Chinese aircraft that had entered South Korea’s air defence region. This incident comes less than two months after Seoul officially filed a complaint over another incursion.

The aircraft is a military survey plane that had spent nearly four hours in the Korea Air Defence Identification Zone, said the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff in a statement.

South Korea summoned the Chinese ambassador in February to file an official complain.

China’s Defence Ministry did not respond instantly to a request for comment on Saturday, which is a start of a holiday weekend.

The Foreign Ministry in Beijing in February said that the flights were completely in line with the international law and practice and “the air defence identification zones are not territorial air space".

China on these kind of situations generally say that it has no hostile intent.

However the government has said drills near Taiwan are aimed at sending the democratic island the message that there will be consequences if it tries to push for formal independence.
