Punjab to supply 8,000 pigs to Nagaland per month, rearers could earn Rs 200 crore annually: Minister Sidhu

Punjab minister Balbir Singh Sidhu said on Tuesday that pig rearers in Nagaland could earn up to Rs 200 crore annually as his state will soon start supplying the animals to the Northeastern state.
"Punjab will supply 8,000 pigs per month, thus, earning Rs 200 crore annually for pig famers of the state," said the Punjab animal husbandry minister.
According to Sidhu, people of Nagaland consider pork from Punjab to be hygienic, healthy and full of nutritious value as compared to other parts of the country.
Sidhu added that a memorandum of understanding(MoU) in this regard would be signed soon.
