CBSE to give two marks extra for ‘incorrect’ question in Class X English paper: Reports
The Central Board Of Secondary Education (CBSE) Has Decided To Give Two Marks Extra To The Students For An ‘incorrect’ Question In The Class X English Examination Question Paper.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to give two marks extra to the students for an ‘incorrect’ question in the class X English examination question paper.
The board has assured that it will look into the matter before finalisation of the marking scheme that has to be prepared for the evaluation of the paper.
According to a report by a leading daily, the CBSE had decided on giving two marks extra to the students who had attempted the comprehension passage question of the paper. The passage question asked the students to look for synonyms from inside the passage.
The third question of Passage 2 in the question paper had asked the students to search and write synonyms of endurance, obstruction, and motivation from paragraphs two, four, and five, respectively.
However, the experts and teachers made a note that the actual synonyms for the three words were found in paragraphs three and six of the given passage. This raised doubts in the minds of the students too, questioning whether their answer was correct or marks will be deducted.
The English examination of Class X was conducted on March 12, 2018. The class X students will sit for the Social Studies examination next on March 22, 2018.
