BJP MLA Yogesh Verma shot at in party office, admitted to hospital
The Uttar Pradesh Police Has Registered A Case In Connection With The Matter And A Probe Has Been Launched.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Lakhimpur Sadar Yogesh Verma was shot at on Thursday at the party office. The legislator sustained bullet injuries in his leg and is being treated at the hospital where his condition is said to be out of danger. The Uttar Pradesh Police has registered a case in connection with the matter and a probe has been launched.
"BJP MLA from Lakhimpur, Yogesh Verma was shot at during Holi festivities at the party office. He sustained bullet wounds on his leg. He is being treated at the hospital, he is out of danger. A case has been registered, investigation underway," Poonam, Superintendent of Police, Lakhimpur, said.
According to officials, Verma was meeting some people when an argument broke out following which he was shot at.
"Lakhimpur Sadar MLA Yogesh Verma was meeting some people when an argument broke out following which he was shot at. He is out of danger. He is in a state of shock and unable to give a statement right now. Investigation underway," S Singh, District Magistrate of Lakhimpur Kheri said.
