2 Maoists killed in encounter with security forces in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district
A massive encounter broke out between security forces and Maoists in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district on Monday, reported news agency ANI. According to the report, two Maoists has been gunned by the security forces. The Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra is a Naxalism-affected area with the heavy presence of guerrilla fighters in the hills and dense forests. The area has been designated as part of the Red Corridor.
Earlier in April this year, the C-60 squad of the Maharashtra police and CRPF had killed over 35 Maoists in an aggressive assault on ambushed Naxals in Kasansur village of Gadchiroli. Of the total gunned down ultra-left insurgents, at least were carrying a combined bounty of Rs 82 lakh.
