CJI Dipak Misra recommends Justice Ranjan Gogoi as next Chief Justice

The Chief Justice of India Office has written to the Union of India (UOI) and recommended Justice Ranjan Gogoi as the successor to Chief Justice Dipak Misra. Justice Misra's tenure as the CJI will end on October 2.
Justice Gogoi is at present the senior-most judge. Following the recommendation, Justice Gogoi will be sworn in as the next CJI on October 3.
The CJI's letter endorsing and recommending the name of Justice Gogoi as the next CJI was sent to the Law and Justice Ministry.
